The 88th Geneva International Motor Show opened its doors to the general public last Thursday in the presence of the Swiss Federal Counsellor Guy Parmelin.

Prior to this the Volvo XC40 was awarded the Car of the Year 2018 prize by a jury of professional journalists.

This event was followed by two Press Days where some 10,000 media representatives from all over the world attended more than 70 press conferences presented by exhibitors.

Monday, March 12, will be the last day of the “SAA-Expo”, an exhibition dedicate to the Swiss automotive industry suppliers in Hall 7.

The “European Battery, Hybrid & Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Convention” will take place on March 14, 2018 in the Palexpo Congress Centre.

As of today, the Geneva International Motor Show has registered more than 290,000 entries and will remain open to the general public until Sunday evening, March 18, 2018.

The throngs of visitors to the red-carpeted halls of the Geneva International Motor Show were unanimous in their view: the relocation of certain stands (notably Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover) had contributed to better circulation and a more comfortable environment for their visit.

Among the more than 850 models exhibited they could discover numerous powerful “supercars” based on electric propulsion (Techrules, Polestar, Lvchi), more accessible models plus all of the energy efficient vehicles in the show through the “Salon Car Collector” app, the service station of tomorrow which allows one to fill their vehicle with hydrogen (Union Petroliere), cars that can fly (Pal-V, Italdesign), and the “Back to the Future” exhibition containing the concept cars presented at the Geneva International Motor Show over the last dozens of years which are fascinating to see again in today’s light!

The SAA-Expo is being presented for the second year and is dedicated specifically to professionals from the Swiss automotive industry and will run until March 12th.

It is accessible with the entry ticket of the Motor Show and is located in Hall 7 where it share the space with suppliers of garage equipment and accessories, who will be presenting until March 18th.
